NASA'S #LUCY MISSIONπŸš€πŸš€

Before we get to the important stuff, don't you think you should know why it was called the #Lucy mission?,well most of us are familiar with the movie Lucy right? With the main cast been Scarlett Johansson; which we know as Natasha Romanoff;The Black widow(Me personally, I do know her as black widow😁). In this movie we get to see our Early ancestor being a female ape which was named Lucy

Well lucy was named after the fossilized human ancestor (Called "Lucy" by her discoverers) whose skeleton expanded the understanding of human evolution , with that said, let's get to the important stuff πŸš€πŸš€.

  •     AIM OF NASA'S #LUCY'S MISSION

 The Goal of this mission is actually to explore the Trojan asteroids, One ahead of Jupiter, and another, behind Jupiter. The Trojan Asteroids are Rocky worlds as old as our solar system,and they share orbit with Jupiter around the sun.

They are believed  to be the Relics  of the earliest or primordial materials that formed our outer planets,With this, scientist could use one of the core concept of quantum mechanics, which says; "The past provides relevant information about the present".so if scientist are able to study the Geology of these asteroids(through Radiocarbon dating or other means),it could contain information of how our early solar system was.

The #Lucy mission hopes to expand our understanding of our solar system evolution by visiting these 4.5 billion- year- old planetary fossil's.

  •         Composition Make up of #lucy spacecraft

Lucy has three scientific instrument on board, and NASA will also be using two of the spacecraft subsystem to continue with the science investigation, let's have a look at these instrument

L'RALPH;

It will take color images of the Trojan Asteroids using visible and infrared light.

L'LORRI (Lucy's long-range Recconiscance imager);

This camera would provide the Germane images of the surface of Trojan Asteroids to help scientist fathom what has been happening since our solar system formed

L'TES (Lucy's thermal emission spectrometer);

This instrument helps to measure the temperature of these asteroids to tell whether their surface are Rocky or dusty.

Lucy also has large solar panel to giver the electrical power needed to fly to the Trojan Asteroids, farther from the sun than any previous solar powered mission.

LAUNCH DATE FOR THE #LUCY MISSION

 Lucy spacecraft will launch aboard United Launch Alliance {U.L.A} AtlasV Rocket from the space launch complex on Saturday,Oct 16, 5:34Am.
